Painting with vodka

Grapefruit TreeSouth Beach, Tybee Island GA

Several months ago I bought a bottle of vodka to make a tincture. That never occurred and the bottle remained in my cabinet. Today I found a use for it as a solvent for watercolor. I have seen whiskey watercolors and have always wanted to try painting with spirits. It acts more as a stain with the alcohol and does not fan out the way it would with water. It also dries faster. So far I am enjoying the change and will use it to make a miniature series. I added some white gouache to these as well. Both of these paintings are 3 x 5 inches.
